Students' poetry and art submissions must be postmarked to the River of Words national headquarters by February 15, 2008. All poems and artwork must be original.
Categories: I. Kindergarten-Grade2
II. Grade 3--Grade 6
III. Grade 7--Grade 9
IV. Grade 10--Grade 12
Entries are judged first at the national level, where four Grand Prizes in Poetry and four Grand Prizes in Art are awarded. Alabama state judges will select 1st-, 2nd-, and 3rd-place winners for art and poetry in each category.
All submitted photos must be a minimum of 8" x 10".
Poems may be submitted in English, Spanish, or American Sign Language and should be no longer than 32 lines. Acceptable media for art include paint, pastel, photography, cloth, and computer art. Pieces should be no larger than 11” x 17” and should not be framed or matted. Students may enter as many times as they wish. Each entry must have its own entry form.
